So I recently got the chance to do an email interview with Ben Carey (far right) of Lifehouse! This was a really exciting opportunity so of course I’d love to share it with you guys. Below is the interview. =)

How did you guys first meet?
It’s a small world in the LA music scene. Although none of us are LA natives we all met in and around Los Angeles area

Where did your band name come from?
Our first record was done and the time crunch was on. Our old band name was taken, so the scramble began for a new one. No great thought process was attached. We tried a bunch of names and they were all taken, then we came up with Lifehouse, it sounded good so we went for it. And most importantly it wasn’t taken!!!!

What is your favorite song to perform?
It’s a tie between “Nerve Damage” and our new single, “Halfway Gone”

Where is one place you want to go on tour?
I’d love to go to Australia

What is the most impactful thing that has happened to you?
Surviving a potentially fatal car accident

What is one thing you are hoping to do in the future?
I’d love to do a long long harley ride with a small group of mates and my dad across various parts of the USA

If you could be doing anything else besides being in the band, what would it be?
I’d love to be involved with basketball in very hands on way … either playing or coaching at a high level

Is there anything you would go back and change if you could?
Maybe I’d make myself taller, then I may have a shot at the NBA lol…

What/who were your inspirations to get into the music business?
Early on in life I loved bands such as Aerosmith and Dire Straights but my biggest influence was my teacher/mentor Matt Disney and my guitar hero Irwin Thomas

If you could meet anyone who would it be?
Michael Jordan

If you could do a collaboration with anyone, who would it be?
I’d love to work with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers or the producer Mutt Lange

If you could say one thing to your fans what would it be?
Thanks for coming to our shows and digging our music. We love playing live more than anything and being able to do this and share it with all of you every night on the road is awesome.

Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas performed their duet “Make a Wave” at Walt Disney World’s Epcot on February 11th. This act was part of the Friends For Change program. They also planted trees earlier in the day. Was anyone there? What do you think of the song?

Though we just reported the breakup of Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, it seems he is already planning ways to get her back. Flipping through the pages of the National Enquirer I found this article:

There’s a diamond in Taylor Swift’s future – and it’s part of Taylor Lautner’s plan to win her back!

The red-hot country singer ended their two-month romance in December to focus on her career, but the Twilight hunk hopes to persuade her to give him another chance, insiders say.

The two will soon reunite to promote their movie Valentine’s Day.

“He plans to overwhelm Taylor with four dozen red roses, a diamond friendship ring and a romantic dinner date when they’re both in Los Angeles,” a source told The ENQUIRER.

“He whole heartedly believes they have something special and that it’s worth fighting for.”

The 17-year-old wolf-boy captured the heart of bouncy Taylor, a 5-time winner at the American Music Awards, after getting the approval of her mom Andrea.

Agreeing to Andrea’s stringent dating rules, Lautner was the devoted boyfriend – sitting stage-side at two of Swift’s concerts in Chicago, and enjoying multiple dinner dates in L.A.

But then Swift suddenly said “Sayonara” to her hunky heart-throb.

But Lautner made a desperate bid to salvage their relationship when he jetted into Swift’s Tennessee hometown on Dec. 13 as a 20th birthday surprise.

But with a world tour keeping her busy through June, Swift “wants to channel her energy into her career,” divulged the insider.

“But Lautner isn’t accepting her rejection. The way he sees it, this is nothing more than a minor setback in an enduring love affair.”

X Factor Coming to America!

It’s official! Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after this season. But don’t worry, he’s not leaving television all together! Simon is planning to bring The X Factor, a singing competition popular in the UK, to America! He may also bring Paula on to help him join. According to People:

How Is The X Factor Different From American Idol?
Both The X Factor and American Idol hold public auditions and air highlights of the good and bad performances. In last year’s X Factor, though, the auditions were held before a live audience. One key difference between the shows is that The X Factor accepts groups and duos in the competition; the show also takes contestants age 16 and over with no upper limit, while American Idol caps the age at 28.
“I don’t like rules,” Cowell said. “A lot of people over the years like to audition for Idol but were too old. I listened to that. Susan Boyle is the reason why I like to do shows without age. Without a show like [Britain's Got Talent], she would never have landed a recording contract and that’s what these shows can do … That’s why record labels are out of touch. It’s supposed to be David versus Goliath. That’s what I like about the format. Right now, who has the biggest X-factor in the world? Lady Gaga. [I would] love to find someone like that.”
Hollywood Round vs. Boot Camp: On American Idol, contestants who get a “golden ticket” to Hollywood then sing in groups or solos with some assistance from a vocal coach to further impress the judges, who then whittle them down to a top 24. The public then votes after watching the 24 perform and eventually settle on a top 12.
On The X Factor, the contestants who survive the first auditions are divided into groups and handed over to the judges, who then become their mentors. They are taken to different houses to study and train with their respective judge. After a few more cuts, boot camp ends with 12 acts ready to compete for the votes from viewers at home.
While both shows reward the victor with a recording contract and monetary prize based on a public vote, the judging along the way for The X Factor takes on a personal bent because the judges have worked so closely with the contestants and will defend their charges.
